Dear Castle Hill Middle School families,
I hope this letter finds you well. Along with this calendar letter, I am sending home a letter indicating we are a Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) school. I believe strongly that we are a strong learning community, and that we will meet this challenge as we do all challenges - we will work together and meet the needs of all of our students, they can indicate patterns and opportunities to do better.
On Thursday, March 12 at 5 pm, and on Friday, March 13 at 12:00 pm, I will be holding a forum in the auditorium for all families to discuss in more depth. These are also the days of parent-teacher conferences, which are from 5:30 to 8 pm on Thursday, and 12:30 - 2:30 pm on Friday (Friday, March 13 is a half day for students). I encourage you to come by. This will also be an opportunity for questions and open dialogue. We are stronger with your voice -- I hope to see you!
The subject where we did not meet our target was in Math. We are currently engaged in a number of shifts in practice to ensure we are meeting the needs of all students. On Friday, April 3, we will have a Family Game Show Night from 6:30 - 7:30 pm, to build on the great success of our Family Game Night. In addition to games that mimic your favorites, such as Family Feud, The Price Is Right, and Jeopardy, we will have booths that introduce aspects of math instructional shifts for families, as well as tips for how you can help your child achieve success.
The ELA state test is March 25 and 26. We have been diligently preparing and I know your children are ready to show their growth. You can support your child by making sure they read every day and that they get a good night sleep the evenings before the test.
As always please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you at the forum and parent teacher conferences!
Harry Sherman, Principal
