Dear Parents and Families,
I know that this is a very trying time as we deal with the coronavirus and its impact across the world, in our communities, and now our schools. While some parents may feel relieved about schools being closed, I respect and understand that there are parents who are concerned about the continuity of their child's (children's) learning. I am also aware that many families are dealing with challenges surrounding child care, daily provisions, wellness, and overall well-being.
All of us here at Castle Hill Middle School 127 are committed to supporting your and your family through this time. We have been providing information on our web site and via Robocalls to address some of your questions and concerns, and all staff are working together to ensure successful remote learning for your child. We have been compiling a large list of resources (food, internet, learning resources, etc.) to help our students and families during this time of transition and distance learning. One such resource available to you is Grab-and-Go breakfast and lunch, which will be available for all students at our schoolyard entrance Monday through Friday from 7:30 am -1:30 pm. It is very important for you to know that although we will be engaging in remote learning, we still expect students to participate in instruction daily. If your child will need a device to engage in remote learning, he/she may pick one up from our school Wednesday, March 18 or Thursday, March 19 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Remote learning will begin Monday, March 23, 2020.
If your child has medicine here at the school, he/she may pick it up on Wednesday, March 18 or Thursday, March 19.
If you were unable to speak with your child's teacher(s) during Parent Teacher Conferences March 12th and 13th, please let me know so that I can schedule a call for you to discuss any concerns. Also, I realize that this situation has occupied our attention, but I would like to remind you that the NYC School parent surveys (enclosed in the green envelope and brought home by your child last week) can still be completed online. This would be a great time for you to share your thoughts and feedback (anonymously), which will help us to grow and improve as a school. The survey is available in other languages and can be mailed in the pre-paid return envelope or completed online at NYCSchoolSurvey.org. Surveys are due March 31st.
